Would it be wrong to laugh?

Apparently, they are not ruling out sabotage

This comment made me chuckle

Why don’t we send over a group of scrap metal merchants and….. hang-on, has this been done before?

  1. Don’t under-estimate them.

Our garrison of several thousand could be overwhelmed at any moment by a mischievous and unconventional plan.

    The dogs.

Admittedly this ship had been out of service for sometime but still it doesn’t really fill one with confidence in their abilities when they allow one of their ships to sink. At the pier!!

  3. Even the USN lost a destroyer while on pier.

What should be more problematic is the bad economic situation in Argentina, requiring a foreign scapegoat. If their soy bean harvest becomes as bad as predicted…

    Stay tuned!

  5. Ace,

Shame there’s no HMS Del Boy in service to go lend a hand (and yes that does sound familiar…)

    Sir H,

Surely mentioning “Them What Waddle” is dancing around the OSA paperwork? (” ‘Arold is that most dangerous of animals, a crack ninja suicide penguin….”)

Also, where have you gone, Ossie Ardiles? In a grim sort of way that’s a bit of our collective youth, is that old hulk….

  6. Just occured to me: I s’pose that means you can’t really stick a sign that says “one careful owner” on the windscreen at this point, can you? Dockside view does tend to give the game away.

  7. They’d do well to clear out their ghost fleet if they really do have scores of ships tied up and left to deteriorate; instead of keeping up ship numbers for the sake of appearance.
This is down to underfunding their navy, not necessarily due to a lack of professionalism within that service. Let us not forget that other navy which forgot that HMS Astute needed water in which to bob around in; or which a few years back nearly sank HMS Nottingham after unexpectedly discovering and bumping into Australia.

  8. “left-leaning President Cristina Fernandez.” – She’s not leaning to the left as much as that destroyer. Sorry, couldn’t resist that.

  10. @ST – Presumably these are Mark 2 Penguins, Mark 1s having shown up in that video about hovercraft a few days ago?

  11. @ Gloomy Northen Boy – That is indeed my understanding. Some have criticised the Penguin Warrior programme of Gold plating perfectly good ninja penguins as pointless and there was the embarresing oversight of not waterproofing the mark one Penguin Integrated Combat Kit… By the top brass have always said we need to PICK up our Penguins.

  12. x,

I suppose if they’d just spray-painted Santissima Trinidad’s bog with psychological-warfare graffiti that’d be penguin vandaloo?
