Whatever Happed to FOBEX

In 2012 I wrote about the Generic Base Architecture and FOBEX, an open systems architecture for bases and a series of development trials designed to test some of the components.

So what happened to it?

Are fixed bases so last war, contingency operations are the future, and never again will we need to worry about water, food and poop?

  1. At a guess it went away because it wasn’t a generic architecture in the same way that GVA is. It was just a collection of individual systems that someone arbitrarily applied the words “generic” and “architecture” to prior to making a fancy powerpoint.
